Using the New Storage Space

A.A. everyone,

As I informed you earlier through mail, we have a new joint account on Gmail for keeping all files/conversations in a single place. It’s better than Yahoo groups because a) Yahoo groups isn’t good for searching and b) because it doesn’t save files.

I’m trying to get this thing to auto-forward but I can’t get it to forward to more than one email address. For the time being, you’ll have to CC all information to this email address. (I’m not posting the actual email here for fear of giving it out to spam bots. I don’t want to have to sort through the spam.)

Anyway, here are a few guidelines:

1. Always send a copy of all communication group-related to the email.

2. Include the name of the project in the subject. This rule is required for the auto-labelling filter and must be observed. Currently, the names are: Project-CL-IMS, Project-NUST and Project-SAMSUNG.  If a message is intended for more than one projects, include names of all the relevant projects.

3. Please make sure that the subject text is relevant and descriptive.

Update: I’ve setup the auto-forwarding. I’m sending a test mail now.

If you get that test mail, you only need to send messages to the Security Engineering Archive (as we would call the new mail box from now on.)

Sub-update: I think the mail forwarding works but doesn’t send mail back to the sender. Can somebody please confirm if they’ve received the test forwarded mail?

Yes.. i hav recieved the mails… i think replying to Sec Engg Arch can solve the things… but the problem will be that it wont seem to be from the same chain… isnt it so ??

Since we’re on gmail and the mails are simply forwarded, if you reply to the mails without changing the subject, they would belong in the same “conversation” and should be grouped in gmail. My theory. We can easily check it though.

I’m sending a file right now. You guys can reply and we’ll see how it works out.

Oh and one more thing.

If you want to send a message to all members mailing list style, make sure you include the Security Engineering Archive email address in the “TO” field.

If you don’t want a mass forward but only want to keep a backup in the archive, include the Archive email in the “CC” field.
